5 Nights · The Grumeti Private Reserve + the Mara River Crossing Season
Top-tier wild-luxury · Private reserve · Fully inclusive
One of the pinnacles of Tanzanian wild-luxury — and the rare chance to stay in two extremes of beauty on one trip: Sasakwa is a colonial manor on a hilltop — a grand house, fireplaces, four-poster beds, full of stature; Mara River is a contemporary-design tented camp on the riverbank — bright, airy, artful. One classic and grand, one modern wild-luxury — no need to choose.
Is it right for you?
Honeymoons, anniversaries and families with the budget who want top-tier privacy and service; guests who want to stay in real style without missing the crossing spectacle.
Families with children under 10; budget-sensitive guests; travellers who want pared-back simplicity and don’t care for luxury trappings.
For both, we have better alternatives — just ask your consultant.
What a stay looks like
Singita Sasakwa
A hilltop, manor-style flagship — almost the entire Grumeti private reserve nearly to yourself.

Singita Mara River
A contemporary-design tented camp on the Mara River — front-row seats for the crossing season.

When to come: June–October
This is Tanzania’s most reliable game-viewing season — and exactly why we pair these two camps:
Northern Singita Mara River: right on the river-crossing season.
From July to October the wildebeest armies reach Lamai, massing at the river and plunging into the rapids. It is the most spectacular scene in safari — only this one window each year.
Western Singita Sasakwa (Grumeti): a private reserve dense with wildlife year-round.
Around June the migration often moves through the western Grumeti area, right on Sasakwa’s doorstep; and through the June–October dry season the game gathers around the water, so lion, leopard and elephant put on a show daily — all across a reserve with few vehicles and few people, nearly to yourself. Spectacular even without the northern crossing.
First enjoy the exclusive-use privacy and flagship stature at Grumeti, then head north to the Mara River for the crossing climax.
