5 Nights · Southern Calving Season + the Eastern Big-Cat Plains
Private reserve · Calving season + top big cats · Fully inclusive
This isn’t a single-brand package but a pair we built specifically for the calving season: Mwiba (a private reserve in the southern Serengeti) sits among granite boulders and gorges — classic, romantic, secluded; Namiri Plains (the eastern plains) is a contemporary-design camp in the Serengeti’s “land of big cats”. One classic wild-luxury among the rocks, one modern private stay on the plains — matched to the most dramatic season of the year.
Is it right for you?
Honeymoons, anniversaries and families who want to go deep on the calving season and top big cats while keeping refined wild-luxury; keen travellers who love private-reserve walking and night drives — the things you can’t do inside a national park.
Guests coming only for the Mara River crossing (that’s a July–October, northern product); budget-sensitive guests.
For both, we have better alternatives — just ask your consultant.
What a stay looks like
Mwiba Lodge
Classic wild-luxury tucked among granite boulders and gorges — secluded and romantic.

Namiri Plains
A contemporary-design camp on the open eastern plains — the Serengeti’s land of cheetah and lion.

When to come: January–March
This is the Serengeti’s most dramatic season — and exactly why we pair these two camps:
Southern Mwiba: right on the calving-season stage.
From January to March the wildebeest gather to calve on the southern short-grass plains — hundreds of thousands of newborns drop, and new life draws in lion, leopard and cheetah alike: life and death in one frame. Mwiba sits right on the edge of this area.
Eastern Namiri Plains: the Serengeti’s “land of big cats.”
These eastern plains are known for their density of cheetah and lion, with action year-round; from January to March the rains green the plains and gather the prey, so the predators are even more active.
First immerse in the southern calving season and the boulder landscape at Mwiba, then move east to Namiri to focus on cheetah, lion and the other top predators.
