This Lemala pairing at a glance

This is a high-end loop that Lemala itself promotes, and we’ve built it as two seasons, two ways to travel: both open with Osonjoi in the Ngorongoro highlands and Nanyukie in the east-central Serengeti (each with a private plunge pool), then the final leg follows the migration — January–March south to Ndutu for calving season, July–October north to Kuria Hills for the Mara River crossing. One loop; choose new life or the crossing by season.

Is it right for you?

A good fit

Guests who want to cover “highlands + east-central Serengeti + the migration” in one trip, with refined lodges and a private plunge pool throughout; honeymooners, anniversaries and families choosing between calving season and crossing season.

Less of a fit

Guests who want to settle in one place and unwind (this is a three-location itinerary); budget-sensitive guests.

For both, we have better alternatives — just ask your consultant.

What a stay looks like

Ngorongoro Highlands · both seasons

Lemala Osonjoi

A contemporary lodge in the misty Ngorongoro highland forest — cool and quiet, the opening of the whole loop.

Forest lodge from above
A dark-timber lodge tucked into the highland forest, its curved roofs following the treetops.
Lounge · woven pendant lights / mist
A lounge beneath woven globe lights, the highland mist drifting past the floor-to-ceiling glass.
Deck · forested hills at sunset
Two chairs on the deck, watching the sun sink into layer upon layer of forested hills.
Fire-pit view deck
A round fire-pit deck set on the forest edge — gather round at dusk as the sunset spreads over the highland canopy.
East-Central Serengeti · both seasons

Lemala Nanyukie

An upgraded tented lodge in the east-central Serengeti — few vehicles, quiet, a private plunge pool in every room. That robes-and-sunset plunge-pool deck in the hero image? This is it.

Sundowner on a boulder
Climb the boulder beside camp for the sunset, the empty east-central plains at your feet.
Tented suite + private plunge pool
A bright, airy suite with a canopy bed and a small plunge pool on the deck — watch wildlife lying down.
Pool at night
The pool lit by kerosene lanterns after dark, the east-central night sky especially clean.
Southern Serengeti · stay Jan–Mar (calving season)

Lemala Ndutu

An explorer-style mobile tented camp that follows the migration, pitched in the southern calving grounds from January to March. It’s the most pared-back link in this loop — a mobile camp, relatively simple; but that’s exactly what brings you closest to nature, and adds a “from refined lodge to wild camp” layer to the whole trip.

Camp from above · calving-season green
In the lush green of calving season, a few tents scattered among the acacia.
Newborn wildebeest calves
The headline act — hundreds of thousands of calves drop on the southern plains, the season of life.
Tented dining
The mess tent opens to the plains — breakfast in the morning light, wildebeest not far off.
Explorer-style tent interior
A classic explorer tent — brass lamps, canvas, timber — sleeping right beside the calving grounds.
Northern Serengeti · stay Jul–Oct (crossing season)

Lemala Kuria Hills

A glass-walled design lodge near the northern Mara River, right on crossing season from July to October.

Glass-walled suite + plunge pool
A full glass-walled suite with a canopy bed and a plunge pool on the deck, facing the northern bush.
Sundowner on a boulder
A sundowner on the boulders — champagne with a whole sweep of northern grassland.
Infinity pool
An infinity pool reaching into the green forest — soak while you wait for word of a crossing.
Mara River crossing
The headline act — thousands of wildebeest pour across the Mara River, a window that opens only in July–October.

When to come: two seasons, two great spectacles

This loop has two golden windows — the first two legs are the same, the final camp changes with the migration:

🌱Jan–Mar | Calving season (stay Lemala Ndutu · south)

Hundreds of thousands of calves are born in the south.

Life drops en masse on the short-grass plains, drawing in lion, leopard and cheetah — life and death in one frame, the year’s most dramatic season.

This leg stays at the Ndutu mobile camp, closest to the calving.

The mobile camp is relatively simple — in exchange for the position closest to the herds.

🌊Jul–Oct | Crossing season (stay Lemala Kuria Hills · north)

The wildebeest armies reach the north and plunge into the Mara.

Safari’s most breathtaking spectacle, and this window only.

This leg stays at the glass-walled Kuria Hills lodge.

Soak in the infinity pool, behind a full wall of glass, waiting for word of a crossing.

The two legs common to both seasons: Osonjoi in the Ngorongoro highlands (the crater is good year-round) + Nanyukie in the east-central Serengeti (few vehicles, strong resident wildlife, a private plunge pool in every room) — whichever season you pick, you stay at both.

One Lemala loop — new life or the crossing, choose by season — and from refined lodge to wild camp, the stay itself becomes part of the experience.
