This Asilia pairing at a glance

Asilia is at its best blending “refined” with “unshowy.” This trip uses three Asilia camps to thread together three completely different Serengeti landscapes and moods: The Highlands is a set of dome tents in the misty Ngorongoro highland forest, the crater right beside it; Dunia is a classic tented camp among the Moru boulders of the central Serengeti — and the only camp in the whole Serengeti run by an all-female team; Sayari sits on the northern Mara River, front row to the crossings. Forest, boulders, river — all in one trip.

Is it right for you?

A good fit

Guests who want to cover all three landscapes — highland crater + central Serengeti + northern crossings — in one trip; those who love Asilia’s refined-but-unshowy classic wild-luxury; anyone who wants to bag both the Ngorongoro Crater and the Mara River crossing.

Less of a fit

Guests who just want to settle in one place and unwind, and find frequent moves tiring (this is a three-location itinerary with a full pace); budget-sensitive guests.

For both, we have better alternatives — just ask your consultant.

What a stay looks like

Ngorongoro Highlands · dome tents

The Highlands

Geodesic dome tents in the misty highland forest, the crater right beside you.

Forest domes from above
Domes perched on the forested slope, like pods dropped among the treetops.
Dome room · wood stove / morning mist
A bed beneath a starlit dome, a wood stove burning, the Ngorongoro highland mist beyond the glass.
Dome lounge · fireplace
A fireplace and tartan cushions in the communal dome — the highlands are cool, so a fireside cup of tea is just right.
Ngorongoro Crater
Down into the crater — zebra, wildebeest and lion packed into this natural amphitheatre, the scene guests recognise most.
Central Serengeti · Moru boulders

Dunia Camp

A classic tented camp among the Moru boulders — the only camp in the Serengeti run by an all-female team.

Tented room · canopy bed
A canopy bed in a classic canvas tent; open the door and there’s the central plains.
Tent deck / plains view
The deck faces the open plains — a cup of tea while the sun sinks inch by inch.
Bush dinner on the plains
As the sunset ignites, the table and campfire are set out on the plains — a dinner that belongs entirely to the wild.
Campfire dinner · all-female team
After dark the fire rises and the all-female team sets dinner beneath the stars — a story you won’t hear anywhere else.
Northern Serengeti · on the Mara River

Sayari Camp

A camp on the northern Mara River — front-row seats for crossing season.

Camp from above · pool / plains
The camp tucked into the northern grasslands, with a pool facing the boundless plains.
Suite · outdoor tub / deck
A tented suite with an outdoor tub on the deck — soak while the plains change colour inch by inch.
Guest area at sunset / fireside
Gather by the fire at dusk as the contemporary-design guest area glows warm.
Mara River crossing
The headline act — thousands of wildebeest pour across the Mara River in dust and spray, a window that opens only in July–October.

When to come: July–October

This is the Serengeti’s most reliable game-viewing season, and the golden window for this three-stage route:

The Highlands / Ngorongoro Crater: good year-round.

The crater teems with animals in every season; the July–October dry season brings good tracks and clear views — the steadiest opening for the trip.

Central Dunia: resident wildlife + the migration’s tail.

The central big cats are resident and active, and in July–October migrating columns often pass through — a natural bridge between stages.

Northern Sayari: right on Mara River crossing season.

From July to October the wildebeest reach the north and plunge into the rapids — safari’s most breathtaking scene, and this window only.

Open at the highland crater, carry through the centre, and finish in the north on the crossing crescendo — the whole Serengeti in one trip.

Suggested package: 7 nights
Itinerary
  1. The Highlands2 nights
  2. Dunia Camp2 nights
  3. Sayari Camp3 nights

Open at the highland crater (cool air, the crater set-piece), see resident wildlife and boulder country at central Dunia, then 3 nights at northern Sayari — crossings are down to luck, so an extra night in the north markedly raises your odds of catching the big spectacle.

All meals and some drinks included, daily game drives, and 4 light-aircraft legs (Arusha → Manyara → central Serengeti → northern Serengeti → Arusha), and more (per quote).

The price already includes the fully-inclusive 7-night package.
