Tanzania Bush Camp Mara

Tanzania Bush Camp Mara strikes a balance between price, position and experience that we rate highly. It sits in the northern Serengeti around Kogatende and the Mara River, which makes game drives in peak season easy — and with a mobile camp, position is much of the point: you don't spend hours each day driving to find animals. From July to October, when the herds pour down the banks of the Mara and the crocodiles are waiting, the camp is pitched right in that area — which puts you beside the most dramatic wildlife spectacle there is.

For a mobile camp at this price, the tents, food and service are all done well. The rooms are not luxurious, but there is enough space and enough basic comfort, and the safari atmosphere is completely genuine. It is a seasonal camp, pitched in the north from around June to early November, close to the core wildlife areas.
