The view comes first, and it cannot be replicated. Very few hotels sit on the rim itself with the whole crater below them, and this one does more than occupy that rare position — it builds the view into the whole stay: most rooms and all the main public areas (restaurant, bar terrace, pool) look out over it.

As a Meliá Collection property and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, it delivers a complete luxury-hotel experience: a few dozen rooms only, many of them suites, plus a private villa; contemporary, comfortable design and full facilities — closer to international five-star standards than many high-end safari properties that lean towards being bush camps. Service and food are its standout strengths, with menus drawing heavily on local produce without dropping the level, and recent reviews are remarkably consistent on both; more than a few guests rate it the best night of their whole Tanzania trip. Add the heated infinity pool over the crater, the spa, the gym and the generous public spaces, and coming back to the lodge becomes part of the experience.
